Everyone Has a Provider

Heat map showing that many residents in lower-socioeconomic zip codes in Memphis do not make more than one doctor's visit a year, indicating a lack of basic primary and preventive care.

In most neighborhoods in the urban core of Memphis, fewer than 40% of adults get one or more doctors office per year. Most people in these neighborhoods are not getting recommended basic primary and preventive care.

We want to change that.

The Everyone Has a Provider Program is an initiative of the UTHSC College of Medicine to expand access to essential care across the Mid-South. This effort aims to achieve primary care for all in the Mid-South region and engages students, faculty, providers, regional health systems, and, most importantly, the community in this effort.  The DWPC and the CHSI are helping to support this effort by providing data-driven information about neighborhoods whose people are most in need of better health care.
