Paying for Medical School

Ninety percent of medical students at The UT Health Science Center College of Medicine receive some form of financial assistance to cover their educational needs. To be eligible to receive financial aid, your first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Application (FAFSA).

The three basic types of financial aid include: grants, scholarships, and loans. While the majority of aid awarded to medical students across the U.S., as well as, UTHSC, consists of loan programs, it should be noted that UTHSC has several scholarships available to qualified medical students.

The federal school code for the UTHSC is 006725.

Tuition and Fees

The Finance and Operations staff are here to serve the faculty, students and staff of the UTHSC campus. They are responsible for the financial integrity of the UTHSC, overseeing the revenue and expenditures for the campus and have the responsibility for the optimal management of the UTHSC's cash balances and reserves.

College of Medicine Scholarships

The UTHSC College of Medicine Admissions Committee invites the top 15 accepted applicants (for that entering class) to return to The UTHSC campus for additional interviews as a finalist. We are especially fortunate to have up to five merit scholarships of generous proportions available annually. If selected to compete, an invitation will be e-mailed to the top 15 accepted applicants in late February to return to our campus (in late March) to compete for one of the UTHSC College of Medicine's scholarships. Selection is based on:

  1. academic achievement
  2. leadership ability
  3. interviews
  4. outstanding personal qualities.

No application is necessary to be considered.
