St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a world-wide leader in understanding, treating
and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It strives to
advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through
research and treatment.
Relationship with UTHSC and the Division:
St. Jude has a close relationship with UTHSC, as many St. Jude patients will be seen by UT faculty members. The Integrated Biomedical Sciences Program at UTHSC also allows students to shape their doctoral research education in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Dr. Neil Hayes, Division Chief at UTHSC Hematology and Oncology, is an Adjunct Faculty at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in the Computational Biology Department. Several research collaborations are established between members of the division and St. Jude, including a multidisciplinary effort aiming to develop tools and therapies to cure fibrolamellar carcinoma, a rare liver cancer.
