Standardized Patient

What is a standardized patient (SP)?
A person who has been carefully trained to portray patient with a specific condition in a realistic and repeatable way. The SP can be used for teaching and in some cases the SP may evaluate the students. This can include history and physical examination, consultation, and other clinical skills in simulated clinical environment.
