Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Jami S. Brown joined the College of Nursing faculty in June 2012. Her teaching responsibilities include providing both didactic instruction and clinical supervision within the Accelerated BSN program. She is the Instructor of Record (IOR) for the Nursing Concepts III: Care for Adult-Gerontology Patients with Acute/Complex Health Problems course. She provides clinical supervision in the Nursing Concepts III and Nursing Internship: Leadership and Management courses. In addition, she is an instructor in the Leadership and Health Policy course for the DNP program.

Dr. Brown received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, in 2002, a Master of Science in Nursing degree focusing on Nursing Education from Regis University, Denver Colorado, in 2006, and a Doctor of Health Education degree from A. T. Still University, Kirksville Missouri, in 2009. Dr. Brown has been a registered nurse (RN) since 2002 and a nurse educator since 2010. Her almost 20 years of experience within the nursing profession includes a background in the areas of critical care and dialysis nursing. In addition, her research interests include chronic kidney disease (CKD), HIV/AIDS, and nursing education.

Dr. Brown holds national certification as a certified nephrology nurse (CNN). In addition, she is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Nephrology Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, Association of Black Nursing Faculty, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the National League of Nursing.

Dr. Brown received the Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC) Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014 and 2017. She serves on a variety of committees in the college, community, and national organizations.
