Equipment in the Library

Electronic Classroom (3rd floor across from elevator): 6 Dell workstations running Windows 10 and 3 iMacs are available when instruction classes are not scheduled. See E-Classroom for more information.

Special note regarding saving files: if you save a file to one of the library’s computers and you want to keep it, make sure you save it to a USB drive or email the file to yourself. Our computers automatically restart after 15 minutes of inactivity. Once restarted, any file you might have placed on the computer will be deleted and cannot be retrieved.

5 iPad Pros for semester checkout.

Checkout overview and guidelines:

  • Available to all current UTHSC students for SEMESTER checkout
  • Includes folio keyboard and iPad Pen
  • Renewal allowed, if at least one similar device is available for check-out (iPad must be brought to library for renewal). If another iPad is not available at the time of renewal, you must wait until the next business day to be eligible to check one out.
  • $10.00/day overdue fine for iPad
  • The borrower agreement form must be signed at checkout
  • Purchase and install additional apps using your own Apple ID
  • All apps, documents, and search history will be wiped upon return using Apple’s Configurator software
  • iPads are considered “supervised” by Configurator and will prevent iTunes syncing if connected to a desktop or laptop computer.
  • To transfer pictures and videos from camera roll, use Google Drive or Dropbox apps.
 

The following apps and mobile-friendly sites are installed on iPads provided by the UTHSC Health Sciences Library. Unless otherwise indicated, apps were free at time of installation.

5 Dell Laptops and 5 MacBooks are available for checkout and use inside the library by UTHSC students.

Laptops can be used for 12 hours or until the battery runs down.

Research alcove (2nd floor) and electronic classroom (3rd floor) computers are configured so current UTHSC students can print using the system already available in the GEB and SAC computer labs.

Effective January 2, 2018, anyone can print to any wepa print kiosk across campus, from:

  • UTHSC computers
  • Personal computers, tablets and smartphones
  • Cloud or USB storage
  • Email documents to print@wepanow.com

The general public, non-students and students with a $0.00 balance can pay with credit card.

  • Black & white single sided $0.05 per page
  • Black & white double sided $0.07 per page
  • Color single sided $0.25 per page
  • Color double sided $0.48 per page

  • 2nd floor research alcove (east) - black & white and color
  • 2nd floor outside Room 210 (west) - high capacity, black and white only
  • 3rd floor in the electronic classroom (Room 307) - black & white and color

  • The book-edge scanner is located on the east side of the second floor near the 6 Dell workstations.
  • There is no photocopier in the library.
  • Scan the materials and send to your email (25 MB limit) or save to a USB drive or use cloud storage.  Note: to use Google Drive from scanning station you can't use 2-factor authentication and must enable Less Secure apps in your Google settings.
