Access to e-journals and databases is checked directly against the campus directory upon each login. If you have graduated, retired or left UTHSC employment you are no longer eligible for off-campus e-journal and database access.  Sponsored NetIDs are also NOT eligible for off-campus access.

Request Articles, Books, Book Chapters & Theses

Books and journal articles not located in the Health Sciences Library can be ordered through interlibrary loan (ILL) by users with valid NetID and password.

The Library’s policy is to fill only those requests necessary to meet the educational, research or clinical needs of UTHSC faculty, staff and students. However, we are unable to obtain assigned textbooks for classes at UTHSC or elsewhere. Requests for items needed for personal interests should be submitted to the Memphis Public Library or your local public library.

Ordering Interlibrary Loans:

  • A journal article or book request form must be filled out for each request.
  • Lists from literature searches or bibliographies cannot be accepted.
  • Only current UTHSC faculty, staff, students and residents are eligible.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research. If users make a request for, or later use, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of fair use, they may be liable for copyright infringement. We reserve the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in our judgment, fulfilling the order would violate copyright law.
