PharmD/PhD Dual Degree Program
The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy has developed a unique, integrated PharmD/PhD Dual Degree Program for highly qualified students. This program combines the existing PharmD and PhD programs currently based in the College of Pharmacy and the College of Graduate Health Sciences. Students who are accepted into the program may choose to pursue a PharmD degree and a PhD in either Health Outcomes and Policy Research or Pharmaceutical Sciences. The program is designed to reduce the total time needed for completion of the degrees while maintaining the high standards for both programs individually.
The objective of the PharmD/PhD dual degree program at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is to train qualified pharmaceutical scientists for academic and industrial positions and to provide a stimulus for pharmacy students to enroll in PhD programs. It is intended to increase the number of highly trained clinician-researchers that can operate at the interface of basic research and clinical care to facilitate a faster translation of medical innovations into benefits for patients.
The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy has more than 20 years of experience with its PharmD/PhD Dual Degree Program, and its graduates have been highly successful in their professional careers.
