Ready To Apply?
The first step toward becoming a student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is completing an online application. Which online application you should complete depends on which professional career you are interested in pursuing. Some UTHSC academic programs require that you apply through one of the centralized application services. All other UTHSC academic programs require that you apply through the UTHSC online application. The following sections describe both options.
Option 1: Centralized Application Service Approach
At present, six programs use centralized application services.
- Medicine – Apply to AMCAS

(American Medical College Application Service) - Pharmacy – Apply to PharmCAS

(Pharmacy College Application Service) - Physical Therapy – Apply to PTCAS

(Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service) - Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology – Apply to CSDCAS

(Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service) - Occupational Therapy – Apply to OTCas

(Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service) - Dentistry – Apply to AADSAS

(Associated American Dental Schools Application Service)
To become an applicant to the UTHSC, you must select The University of Tennessee Health Science Center as part of your application process.
Admission to a UTHSC program through a centralized application service includes two components:
- Web-based, centralized application component
- Complete the centralized application (i.e., AMCAS, etc.) as instructed.
- During this part of the process, you will be asked to provide all the information and documentation required for your review and (hopefully) acceptance into the program of your choice.
- After acceptance, packet component
- Once you have been accepted by the program of your choice, you must provide additional information and documentation required by the UTHSC for admission.
- We refer to this part of the process as the "packet component" since all the materials are to be submitted in a single envelope or "packet".
- The packet component includes official transcripts from all the schools you have attended since high school, including grades in all the classes required by the program to which you have been accepted, as well as other materials required by your program (e.g., professional licenses, certifications, etc.).
- The first page in the packet should be a completed Application Packet CHECKLIST.
- The packet component should be submitted in one envelope to:
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center
Office of Enrollment Services
910 Madison Avenue, Suite 520
Memphis, TN 38163 - Final transcripts from all schools attended must be submitted on or before the official start date for your program.
Option 2: UTHSC Online Application Approach
Application to UTHSC programs other than those listed under “Option 1” should be made through the UTHSC Web Application.

After completing the Web Application: The packet component of the UTHSC application
- The packet component is an essential part of your UTHSC application, without which your application will not be reviewed.
- The packet is intended to include all supporting documentation that cannot be submitted electronically.
- This includes the Application Packet CHECKLIST, official transcripts, official test scores, a proposed plan of study (if you have not yet completed all pre-professional courses), and in some cases other program-specific documentation.
- The packet component should be submitted in one envelope to:
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center
Office of Enrollment Services
910 Madison Avenue, Suite 520
Memphis, TN 38163 - All application materials for all programs must be submitted on or before the application deadline for the program to which you are applying.
