Introduction and Characteristics of Effective Nurse Educators

This session introduces core roles and attributes of effective nurse educators, highlighting the skills and dispositions that support high‑quality teaching and learning.

Reflect on what it means to be a Nurse Educator. Identify one characteristic to improve upon or adopt and develop plan for accomplishing this. 
Preparing for the Exam – Creating a Study Plan

Participants learn structured strategies for preparing for the nurse educator certification exam by designing an individualized, realistic study plan.

Design an individualized, realistic study plan.
Centering the Learner

This session explores learner‑centered teaching approaches that prioritize student needs, backgrounds, and engagement to enhance learning outcomes.

May 14

Reflect on learner-centered teaching.
Backwards Design

This session walks participants through the backwards design process to create outcomes‑driven learning experiences that align objectives, instruction, and assessment.

June 11

Create an assessment plan.
Interpreting Assessments & Workshop on Examsoft

Participants practice analyzing assessment data and learn practical techniques for creating, reviewing, and managing assessments using ExamSoft.

Writing assessments

This workshop guides participants in crafting valid, reliable assessments aligned to learning outcomes and professional standards.

This session highlights the role of partnerships with nurse leaders and community stakeholders in shaping relevant, practice‑aligned educational experiences.

Debrief: Where do we go from here? Discussion based on reflective journal and course.

In this reflective discussion, participants synthesize insights from the course and their journals to determine next steps for ongoing growth as nurse educators.

Reflective Journal Review. Final exam preparation.
