Jeremie H. Estepp, MD

Jeremie Estepp is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist with an active clinical research program focusing on sickle cell disease. Dr. Estepp is the Medical Director of Clinical Research for the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and a Clinical Research Instructor for the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He also serves as the Director of the Newborn Screening Program and Infant and Toddler Sickle Cell Clinic. After graduating from Marshall University in 2006, Dr. Estepp attended University of Tennessee for his pediatrics residency and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology. He joined the faculty at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in July of 2012. Since joining the St. Jude faculty, Dr. Estepp has led a robust research program that is engaged in understanding the pathophysiology and genetics of sickle cell disease, focusing on development of clinical trials to evaluate the safety, efficacy and optimization of therapeutic agents. These efforts have been continuously grant funded from NIH, industry sponsors and the American Society of Hematology. He is the principal investigator and program director (PI/PD) for the NIH-funded multicenter pilot trial evaluating optimal doses of hydroxyurea in very young children with sickle cell disease (HUGKISS; R341HL127162); he is a co-PI for the Sickle Cell Clinical Research and Intervention Program (SCCRIP; NCT00890396), and he has extensively collaborated with industry sponsors. Dr. Estepp’s long-term goal is to develop novel therapeutic agents and combination therapies to prevent the serious morbidity and mortality suffered by individuals with sickle cell disease.
