Michael Alston, EdD, CCDP/AP

Dr. Alston’s employment within The University of Tennessee System spans 30+ years with stints at UT- Martin, UT-Knoxville, and UT Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. Michael's work experience in higher education encompasses residence life administration, student recruitment and admissions, undergraduate instruction, employee relations, student conduct administration and equity and diversity.

He is an alumnus of The University of Tennessee at Martin earning a BS in Psychology and MS in Educational Psychology and Guidance. Michael also has an earned doctorate in higher education administration from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in addition to a professional certificate/certification in Diversity Management from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.

Michael is a native of Brighton, Tennessee in Tipton County and graduate of Munford High School.

 

isabella porcaro

Isabella Porcaro, MA
Learning Assurance Officer

Isabella Porcaro is the Learning Assurance Officer for the Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity, having joined UTHSC in September of 2019. Previously, Isabella worked as a French teacher for the University of Memphis during her graduate program.

As the Learning Assurance Officer, Isabella is responsible for a broad array of duties, including coordination and facilitation of trainings and workshops, as well as managing and providing assistance with faculty and executive administrative recruitment and Taleo transactions. Additionally, she leads the ADA Interactive Process for the campus and supports investigations and adherence to university policy and compliance with EEO/AA. 

Originally from New York, Isabella attended the University of Memphis for both her BA in French Studies and her MA in Romance Languages and Literatures with a French Pedagogy concentration.

Miriam Ghandi
Associate Compliance Generalist

Miriam Ghandi is the Associate Compliance Generalist for the Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity. She joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in early December 2021. As Associate Compliance Generalist, Miriam’s duties include primary complaint intake, posting Post-Doctoral Scholar positions, coordinating the Diversity Certificate Program, Title IX Programming/Hearing Coordination/Reporting, ADA requests for non-exempt staff, and organizing the DEI Faculty Award for the UTHSC IMPACT Awards Program.

As a Memphis native, Miriam attended the University of Memphis and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in Fall 2020.

Abigail Marbibi-Caritan, MA
Associate Engagement Generalist

Abigail Marbibi-Caritan is the Associate Engagement Generalist, having joined UTHSC in November of 2021. She reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor/CDO and Title IX Coordinator and acts as the first line of contact for all DEI related inquiries including issues/concerns, programming, and training and performs administrative and training support for team members in the Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity (OIED), as well as organizing the Lichterman Award and CESA for the UTHSC Impact Awards Program.

Abigail attended the University of Memphis where she received her Bachelor’s in Education in May 2017 and a Master’s in Human Resource Management with a Strategic Leadership Certification in December 2021.

Miki Sisco-Sankrityayan, JD
Senior Compliance Resolution Officer

Miki Sisco-Sankrityayan started as the OIED’s Senior Compliance Resolution Officer in May 2022. Miki works collaboratively with OIED’s partners to ensure UTHSC’s compliance with federal and state antidiscrimination laws, as well as university policies and procedures, by: conducting impartial investigations of complaints of discrimination; facilitating informal resolutions of complaints; providing training on antidiscrimination laws, university policies, and diversity and inclusion-related issues, and; monitoring, reviewing, and approving executive, faculty, and staff hiring. 

Miki received her B.A. in Anthropology from Bates College, her M.A. in Anthropology and Women’s & Gender Studies from Brandeis University, and her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to joining UTHSC, she practiced domestic violence and employment discrimination law.
