Welcoming and Affirming Spaces for All

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is open to all. The Office of Access and Compliance (OAC) is available to employees, students, trainees and visitors needing help finding and accessing inclusive spaces and resources as needed. Other resourceful departments are listed below:

  • Human Resources (HR): The University of Tennessee Human Resources Office's mission is to provide the quality and breadth of human resource services necessary for the university to fulfill its mission of education, research, clinical care, and public service.

  • Office of International Affairs: The Office of International Affairs is an administrative unit at UTHSC, providing advice and counsel on U.S. immigration regulations and compliance. We work with international students, scholars, faculty and staff, and their families (dependents) in several non-immigrant visa categories and provide permanent residency processing for University employees.

  • Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion (SASSI): The Office of Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion serves the University of Tennessee Health Science Center students through services and resources to enhance learning, coping and student performance.

  • Student Success (Formerly Student Affairs and Community Engagement (SACE)): The Office of Student Success supports the academic and public service mission of the University by providing high-impact, student-centered services and programming that supports the personal, professional, and emotional growth of our students.

  • The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC): UTHSC’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) promotes student success through programs, services, and partnerships that support our educators in their pursuit of teaching excellence.

Several restrooms in the GEB and Madison Plaza Lobby are available for all genders to safely access and use. These facilities also benefit others, such as parents with children of different genders and disabled people with attendants of different genders, as well. All are unisex, single-use restrooms.

Several locations on campus have dedicated lactation rooms for those in need.

Locations may have specific hours of operation, please call beforehand to verify vacancies.

Spaces for private individual or group meditation/prayer are available on campus. These spaces are intended to allow for safe, quiet and undisturbed time for your respective religion or belief system.

It is the desire of The University of Tennessee Health Science Center to accommodate all faculty, staff, and students who have a genuine need for accessible parking. Accessible parking spaces are located throughout campus.

We encourage anyone coming to campus for a special event to contact the event coordinators to see if additional arrangements have been made for ADA access if existing parking does not suffice.
