Associate Professor

Marcia Sharp, EdD, MBA, RHIA is an associate professor in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management. She has been with the University of TN Health Science Center since 2006. Dr. Sharp teaches finance, healthcare information systems, quality management, leadership, organization and administration, and reimbursement methods. She holds the certification of registered health information administrator (RHIA) since 1993. She has had a remarkable career in Health Information Management and Human Resource Management where she held various leadership positions. She is an active member of MHIMA, THIMA, and AHIMA serving on several committees and groups. Previously, Dr. Sharp has been a Tennessee delegate to the AHIMA House of Delegates, member of the THIMA Program Committee, past member of the THIMA Nominating Committee, treasurer of MHIMA, and member of AHIMA Council for Excellence in Education.
