2022 Resident Awards

Rookie of the Year: Keelan Passmore, MD

All Pediatric residents voted on an intern who demonstrated teamwork, hardwork, and a great attitude. 

Cathy Stevens Award: Joshua Bland, MD

Tim Thomas, MD, was a graduate of the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga Pediatrics program.
He went on do to fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and currently works in Dallas,Texas.

He is providing a $2000 scholarship each year to a second year resident who is a go-getter, who always stays to see the last clinic patient, and the resident whom everyone enjoys working with.  The scholarship provides funds for the resident and family to attend a conference of their choice.  

Teaching Award: Jacob White, MD

This award speaks for itself.  

Six Pack Award: Beth Brooke, MD

This award is a gift from the Class of 2013, a class of 6 graduates that worked hard to accomplish great things despite their small numbers and overcoming many obstacles. 

This award goes to the resident that has overcome an obstacle during residency, was able to stick to the program and continue to work hard.

Pediatric Hospital Medicine Outstanding Resident Award: Jacob White, MD

This award is given to the resident that exemplifies outstanding effort in patient care, teaching, quality improvement, and communication with patients and medical staff on the pediatric hospital medicine service.

Highest Overall ITE Award: Cole Atkins, MD

This award goes to a resident at any level that scores the highest on the ABP In-training Exam.

Annual Patient Safety/ Quality Improvement Day Awards:

 Departments of Peds excelled in the QI projects and won the following award! 

  • Overall Winner Presentation:  "Rapid MRI a modality for evaluation of shunt malfunction" - Jacob White, MD and Jared Amos, MD.
