Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) seeks a proven leader and manager to fulfill the College of Dentistry?s tripartite mission of education, clinical care and research. The next Dean should have the experience to develop and implement a successful vision and strategic plan for all of the College?s missions. The Dean reports to the Chancellor and is the chief academic and executive officer of the College of Dentistry, is responsible for developing a collegial environment, and will recognize the importance of consensus building, collaboration, and external funding, while defining the College and its role in the broader mission of UTHSC. The Dean should have experience with all aspects of research, including grant processes.

Required Qualifications: DMD or DDS preferred; terminal degree required.

Preferred Qualifications: A track record of leadership in clinical care, education, research, and administration; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to listen and understand the needs of faculty, staff, and students; the ability to build strong relationships with internal constituents; demonstrated success in enhancing and advancing all programmatic areas; demonstrated success in securing support to advance the College?s mission; demonstrated success in managing and leading a complex organization undergoing change; effective decision-making skills; solid understanding of dentistry clinical practice and procedures; and a track record of research in a dental discipline.
