Description: The UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER (UTHSC) College of Nursing, Department of Health Promotion & Disease Prevention, invites applications for the full time position of Pediatric Orthopedics Nurse Practitioner and Care Coordinator in the Center of Excellence for Cerebral Palsy Care. Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Performs history and physical, discharge summary, and other paperwork
2. Completes and requests paperwork and films for surgery
3. Orders appropriate procedures, interprets and integrates data for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes
4. Develops care plans throughout pediatric clinical care cycle to ensure the patient's well-being
5. Educate the patient and family
6. Follow up on patient status and progress
7. Coordinates and assists in collection of clinical research data
8. Evaluates patient status, and notifies appropriate member of care team if additional interventions are needed
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment. In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

Minimum requirements: current RN and APN license in Tennessee; completion of a master?s degree or higher in a nursing specialty demonstrated through national specialty certification as a nurse practitioner. All degrees must be from an accredited program. Current DEA certification and three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. Must have basic computer skills; the ability to react quickly to emergency situations; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
