Substance Use Screening & Resources
Your success at UT Health Sciences is guided by the healthy decisions you make on a daily basis. Learn more about safe and responsible substance use to empower yourself to make informed choices.
How to tell that you might have a problem with substance use:
Do you find yourself drinking or using drugs more than you planned to?
Have you considered cutting back drinking or using drugs?
Have you ever had a drink or used drugs first thing in the morning to calm your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?
Do you spend time thinking about when you can drink or use drugs next?
Have people criticized your drinking or drug use behaviors?
Have you ever felt guilty or ashamed about your alcohol or drug use?
Answering ‘yes’ to two or more questions suggests that you might have a substance use problem. Find out more information by completing the eCheckup To Go screening for alcohol and/or cannabis, visiting University Health Services, or scheduling a counseling session on campus or through TimelyCare.
Concerned about a community member’s substance use?
Submit a CARE Concern referral if you believe that alcohol or drug use might be negatively impacting someone else’s personal, academic, or occupational life.
