Interprofessional Education (IPE) resides within the Office of Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs
IPE Mission Statement
UTHSC is committed to the health and well-being of Tennesseans and the global community by translating research into practice, utilizing expertise across the colleges and university units, and developing health care leaders through high-quality, collaborative, team-based patient and family-centered care.
IPE Vision Statement
UTHSC is recognized as a national leader in health care training and delivery through high-quality interprofessional team-based and collaborative practice.
Common IPE Definition
IPE activities at UTHSC are defined by the following features:
- Authentic bidirectional learning (from, with, and about) that intentionally targets interprofessional practice and education constructs (i.e., IPEC competencies)
- Learners from at least 2 professions
- Comparable levels of learners
- Co-development and facilitation by faculty from each learner’s profession
- IPE learning objectives are discussed, reviewed, and assessed as part of the learning experience
