Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Medicine is seeking an internal medicine and hematology boarded physician for a full-time, tenure track position. The physician candidate will lead the University of Tennessee Health Science Center?s efforts in partnership Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare to establish an enhanced research program within the Memphis Sickle Cell community. The candidate will develop projects, foster collaboration with St. Jude Research programs and compete for grant funding from governmental and non-governmental organizations. The development of health services and clinical research programs relevant to sickle cell disease would be a first priority along with development of translational and basic sciences research programs in that field. The candidate will be expected to provide leadership from direct patient frontline care, organize the currently fragmented care for adults with sickle cell disease, and to interact with key stakeholders including patients, families, other clinicians (adult and pediatric care providers), community thought-leaders and key healthcare systems in the greater Memphis metro region to provide recognized clinical leadership and expertise to promote patient access to the adult sickle cell program. Candidates must qualify for academic appointment and be eligible for Tennessee licensure.
