The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center has initiated an internal search to identify candidates for a new Chair, Department of Family Medicine for the Memphis (St. Francis) and Tipton County sites. The Department of Family Medicine is committed to excellence in patient care and is recognized for excellent clinical training provided to their medical students and residents.

The new Chair of Family Medicine will develop and execute along with institutional leadership, a strategic plan, lead a comprehensive family medicine clinical service, lead a clinical research program, oversee education of trainees, and provide leadership that results in growth and enhanced excellence within the Department. The Chair will strive to strengthen and enhance the academic, research, and clinical excellence of the Department with recruitment, hiring, retention, development and support of outstanding faculty and staff. The candidate must have proven leadership and management experience. Scholarly and research interests are highly desirable, along with experience in education. The qualified candidate must be Board Certified in Family Medicine with 5 years of professional experience. The individual should also have the academic and professional experience necessary to qualify at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, non-tenure track, and be able to provide examples of leadership, a commitment to education and research, mentoring, clinical and management strengths, and national involvement in professional organizations in an area of expertise.
