UTHSC Student Diversity Ambassador Program

The UTHSC Student Ambassador Program is for students who are committed to wellness of the UTHSC Student Body and are passionate about being advocates for peers as they adjust and navigate their academic and professional careers.

Ambassadors will serve as peer advocates and representatives by acting as a contact point, resource person, and campus community builder to students at UTHSC. There are 25 new Ambassadors designated/selected annually. Ambassadors have an option to continue in their role throughout their academic career, with consideration to academic performance and Ambassador Program engagement. Ambassadors will attend orientation and regularly scheduled trainings that focuses on QPR, navigating campus resources, Choice Theory, and cultivating diversity and inclusion on campus.

How does the UTHSC Student Ambassador Program Work?

Ambassadors will attend an Orientation and regularly scheduled trainings that focuses on QPR, navigating campus resources, Choice Theory, and cultivating diversity and inclusion on campus.

Ambassador Responsibilities

Current UTHSC students have an opportunity to play a vital role in the recruiting, transition and acclimation of new students to the UTHSC campus community by serving as an integral network connecting students to resources and support.

Opportunities range from student events, serving as an ally for students within underrepresented communities as well as being an advocate for the UTHSC C.A.R.E Team focusing on fostering a caring campus environment through resources and support. 

Application and Applicant Qualifications

The UTHSC Office of Student Success in partnership with SASSI and the UTHSC Social Justice Committee will make selections for Student Ambassadors based on submitted applications as well as academic and professional requirements. The areas of consideration for each application will include:

  • Interest in Student Wellness, Social Justice and Leadership
  • Commitment to Student Success
  • Academic Performance

Students interested in applying for the UTHSC Student Ambassador Program must complete an online application which can be found here.

Application deadline is February 15, 2021 and Ambassador selections will be announced by March 15, 2021.
