Meet Our Staff
Assistant Vice Chancellor
Lyndsay joined UTHSC in May 2018. An “Okie,” she previously served as registrar at
Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. Lyndsay is responsible for the day-to-day
operations in the Registrar’s Office, including implementation and interpretation
of academic policies, managing the student records database, and implementing new
technologies related to process improvement in conjunction with all areas of SAES.
In her free time, Lyndsay enjoys taking her two yellow labs, Annie and Roxie, to Shelby Farms Park. She plays guitar and saxophone and enjoys performing country music. She makes frequent trips to Nashville to see various country music performances.
Lyndsay received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Education in Adult and Higher Education – Student Personnel from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Business Analyst
Paul Bury is the business analyst who is responsible for assessing technological advancements
to automate and improve processes for the student experience within the offices of
the Registrar, Financial Aid and Admissions. His position oversees all aspects of
Enrollment Management business and technology product development and implementation
lifecycle. He has over twenty-five years of technology and product management experience
that has allowed him to develop a comprehensive understanding of organizational processes
and technologies that implement successful strategies to improve products and services.
The combination of his experiences has prepared him for his role as a business analyst
who can respond quickly to the rapid changes in Enrollment Management and who facilitates
increasingly complex situations and manages multiple priorities concurrently. A native
Tennessee who hails from Washington state, Paul is a veteran of the United States
Air Force where he served as a Computer Technician trained in Secure Telecommunications,
Fiber Optics, LAN, and MAN. He also holds an Associate degree in Computer Programming
and Operations from Clover Park Technical College. Paul is an avid gamer and is affiliated
with several gaming associations, achievements and accolades.
Administrative Coordinator
Santoshia Fitchpatrick serves as an administrative coordinator in the office of Enrollment Management. In this role she provides administrative support to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, and the One-Stop-Shop.
Joining UTHSC staff in 2012 she brings administrative support, paralegal, training and development and insurance finance experience. During her tenure at UTHSC she has served in the role of a Senior Administrative Assistant for various divisions of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine.
Ms. Fitchpatrick earned her Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from the University of Memphis (Memphis, TN.) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Studies degree also from the University of Memphis.
Director of Admissions Operations
Ann is the Director of Admissions Operations. Originally from Norwich, Connecticut,
she relocated to Memphis in 2016. Ann has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology
and Music from Central Connecticut State University and is completing a Master’s program
at Austin Peay State University in Leadership and Organizational Administration. Ann
oversees the admissions staff that supports the six colleges at UTHSC and she works
to deliver best practices for a successful admission process to our campus. Music
is a large part of Ann’s life and she is a member of the UTHSC College of Dentistry
band, The Dentones, where she plays alto saxophone and backup vocals for university
and community events.
Assistant Director of Admissions and College of Nursing Admissions Counseling
Lemmie is the Assistant Director of Admissions. He has Bachelor of Business Administration,
Marketing from the University of Tennessee at Martin, a Master of Arts in Education
from Union University and a Master of Business Administration from the University
of Memphis. He manages the day to day operations of the admissions department. Lem
states that his passion for higher education is what fuels his excitement for the
job. When not in the office, Lem’s playing flag football or traveling out of the country.
Admissions Counselor - College of Health Professions
Sheryta is the admissions counselor for both Health Professions and Speech, Pathology,
and Audiology. Sheryta earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and
Accounting from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She joined UTHSC in 2011
and, when not at work, enjoys reading good books and traveling to new places.
Admissions Counselor - College of Graduate Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy
Paula is the admissions counselor for the College of Graduate Health Science, College
of Pharmacy, and the Audiology, Speech Pathology (ASP) 3+1 program. Paula is earning
her Bachelor of Science in Management Organizational Development from Bethel University.
Originally from Memphis, Paula has been with UTHSC since 2002 and finds great joy
in the diversity of the student population. She is passionate about her faith, family,
and her career.
Director of Financial Aid
Cathy joined UTHSC in March 2021. A California transplant to Texas, she previously
served as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at the University of North Texas Health
Science Center in Fort Worth. Cathy is responsible for overseeing the Financial Aid
Office, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed so that UTHSC maintains
federal, state, and institutional compliance.
Although she loves sports of all kinds, you will often catch her watching or following college and professional football. As a San Diego native, she has an affinity for the Chargers. In her spare time, she watches sports and cooking channels. She likes to bring treats to the office to share, too!
Cathy received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics from George Fox University and a Master of Science in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas.
Nicholas Howze,
Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations and College of Dentistry Counselor
Nicholas Howze is the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations & COD and is responsible for the day to day operations of the UTHSC Financial Aid Office. Nicholas has 12+ years of experience in the financial aid/higher education industry. He has prior experiences as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Christian Brothers University and Associate Director of Financial Aid at STCC. A prideful native of Memphis, Nicholas is a driven leader and brings an array of knowledge. An education advocate, he has a strong passion serving and giving back to his community and city. Most recently, he graduated with a Master of Education from Strayer University. Over his career, Nicholas has been recognized as being a reliable, goal-oriented, and extremely hard working professional. In his spare time, he enjoys watching and attending sporting events, music, and mentoring.
Financial Literacy Coordinator and Financial Aid Counselor - College of Graduate Health Sciences
Janice is the financial literacy coordinator and is responsible for the design and
implementation of all financial aid, debt management curriculum. Additionally, she
is financial aid counselor for the College of Graduate Health Sciences and the College
of Dentistry. Janice is driven, focused, and a hard-working strategic leader with
13-plus years of experience and a proven ability to lead strategic operations within
fast-paced environments. She has experience in providing financial coaching/counseling
to both students and parents, developing streamlined processes, and managing financial
programs. Equipped with a keen ability to maintain positive relationships with members
of the community in addition to leading special community event.
Originally from Alabama, Janice earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the Mississippi University for Women and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. A big football fan, Janice enjoys travel and considers the gym her private sanctuary.
Financial Aid Counselor - College of Health Professions
Gloria, financial aid counselor, earned a Bachelor’s from University of Tennessee
at Knoxville and a Master’s of Art and her teaching license from the University of
Memphis.
She brings a wealth of knowledge about the financial aid process and is passionate toward helping others attain their goals through the accomplishment of a college education. Gloria loves the outdoors and to tour gardens.
Financial Aid Counselor - College of Medicine and State Programs
Latoya joined UTHSC in 2018 as the Financial Aid Counselor for the College of Pharmacy
and State Programs. She graduated from the University of Memphis and is expected to
earn a Master’s in Education in spring 2020. Latoya has been actively working in financial
aid for over 19 years. Her responsibilities include counseling students, coordinating
state grants and scholarships. When not at work, Latoya enjoys spending time with
her two daughters, reading a good book, or binge watching TV shows on Netflix.
Ebony Milam
Financial Aid Counselor - Nursing
A native of Memphis, Ebony is the financial aid counselor for the College of Nursing. She holds a bachelor’s in Business from Lane College and a Master’s in Human Resource
Management from Nova Southeastern University. She brings years of experience in financial aid from private and public sectors. Ebony’s mission is to make sure that she is helping others to reach their power of
potential. One of her favorite quotes: “You never know which experiences of life are going to be of value…. You’ve got to
leave yourself open to the hidden opportunities”. – Robin Roberts
In her free time, Ebony enjoys mentoring high school students, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Administrative Secretary
Shanta Hampton serves as Administrative Secretary in the One Stop Shop. She joined
UTHSC in 2011. As the first point of contact for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services,
her duties include providing information and direction to University community members,
prospective students, and visitors. She earned an Associate of Science degree in general
studies from Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Shanta is passionate about serving others, her faith, and being the best version of herself both personally and professionally. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Administrative Secretary
Kim Abston serves as Administrative Secretary in the One Stop Shop. In this role,
she is the first point of contact for the Office of Enrollment Management, which includes
providing information and direction to University community members, prospective students,
and visitors. Since joining the University in 2018, Kim has achieved great success
working across areas in student life and enrollment management. Kim holds an associate
degree in Business Administration Management and has plans to continue her education
in the future.

Erica Fulton
Associate Registrar
Erica Fulton joined UTHSC December 2019. She previously served as registrar at the
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she also worked in the offices of admissions,
institutional research, and student information systems over the past 31 years. Erica
oversees veterans’ educational benefits, curriculum management through Acalog, compliance,
academic calendar updates, new software implementations, and special projects. She
is an alumna of Spelman College and Tennessee State University and holds a Bachelor
of Business Administration degree. In her spare time, Erica loves nature walking,
community involvement, meeting new people, and spending quality time with her family
and friends.
Associate Registrar
Verlesha Wilson, Associate Registrar, joined the Office of the Registrar in June 2011.
She’s served in several roles within the office, and in her current role, oversees
office operations including course scheduling, enrollment reporting, and staff training.
She also assists with several office initiatives, and policy and procedure interpretation
for faculty and staff. She enjoys professional development opportunities and learning
new applications and technology for personal and professional use. Verlesha earned
her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance at the University of Tennessee
Martin, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Health Studies
at the University of Memphis. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family
and friends.
Student Services Coordinator
Susan, Student Services Coordinator, joined UTHSC in 2018. Originally from Chicago,
she has called Memphis home for 30 years. Susan earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
Graphic Design from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science in Higher
Education Leadership from the University of Memphis. As the graduation specialist
for the Registrar’s Office, she handles all things “graduation,” including degree
evaluations, conferrals and diploma ordering. In addition, she assists with website
updates and communications for the office. Outside of work, Susan is a member and
committee chair in the LeBonheur Club, a volunteer organization that does promotional
work and fundraising for the hospital.
Student Services Coordinator
Sylvia Nisar, Student Services Coordinator Sylvia Nisar serves as Student Services
Coordinator in the Registrar’s Office, assisting students and Colleges with registration.
A native Memphian, she worked for more than a decade at University of Memphis, where
she completed a B. A. degree in English in 2003. Sylvia loves to read and watch sports,
especially Vols football
Student Services Specialist
Kandis Caldwell, Student Services Associate III, joined the Office of Registrar in
September 2020. She has over six years of high education experience. She earned a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis and is currently pursuing
a Master of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Memphis.
