How to Get Started in Research

Incoming Students

As you make plans to become a part of the exciting research conducted at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga (UTCOMC), you will find that jumping in is an easy process. Unlike many larger medical schools, we offer you the opportunity to participate in one-on-one work with faculty and other residents. These opportunities will familiarize you quickly with the research process. By continuing your medical education here, you will find that our staff and faculty go the extra mile in helping you become an excellent researcher.  One of the greatest benefits you will find is the easy access into cutting-edge research projects occurring here. You will work with an experienced and dedicated team to produce results that will improve people's lives for years to come.

Current areas of research and interests include the following:

  • Nanotechnology
  • Cultural Competence and Health Disparities

Community Partners

UTCOMC welcomes the opportunity to work with community experts on research projects. We consider it a privilege to work with community partners, and we know we are all stronger when we work on projects collaboratively for our community.  Please contact Giuseppe Pizzorno, PhD, Associate Dean for Research, giuseppe.pizzorno@erlanger.org to get involved.
