Students will rotate through an inpatient psychiatry unit, a community outpatient clinic, a mobile crisis team, a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), and through a consultation-liaison service. The program provides a $3,000 stipend.

Summer Medical Student Fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Supported by AACAP’s Campaign for America’s Kids (CFAK)

The Summer Medical Student Fellowship provides up to $3,500 for 12 weeks of clinical or research training under a child and adolescent psychiatrist mentor. This program also provides additional travel funds for the required attendance of award recipients to the 64th AACAP Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. in October 2017.

There are over 15 million children in need of mental health treatment, but there is a severe shortage of trained child psychiatrists. Andrés Martin, MD, MPH, Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center, is leading an initiative to promote mental health awareness and generate funding for child psychiatry training by cycling across the country in the summer of 2017. All are invited to participate, donate, and encourage others to join the effort. For information, visit
