Resident Training Program
Following requirements from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Department maintains Continuity of Care Clinics in which each resident, starting with the first year of the program, establishes his/her own "practice." It is anticipated that this cadre of both pregnant and non-pregnant patients will develop a primary care relationship with that particular resident during the four year residency.
Each resident is required to select a research topic for presentation in the PGY-3 year. Opportunities are available for residents who elect to participate in one of the ongoing research programs in the department. In May, the department sponsors The Annual Bradford Kincheloe Visiting Professor Lecture and Resident Research Forum. Papers are presented by each resident to the department, friends and family, and a distinguished visiting professor. Medical students at the third and fourth year levels rotate regularly through the department. The department is committed to quality education at all levels, and resident teaching of medical students is an important educational experience for both the student and resident. Residents participate in both didactic and bedside teaching sessions and assist in student evaluation.
