Cytotechnology and Histotechnology

The mission of the UTHSC Program in Cytotechnology & Histotechnology is to produce highly skilled, entry level cytotechnologists and histotechnologists able to meet the current demands of the profession and prepared to assume positions in education, research and management after appropriate clinical experience.

The Master of Cytopathology Practice (MCP) program is a professional entry-level master’s degree program that prepares graduates for certification in both cytotechnology and histotechnology. These are two separate but related laboratory professions within the division of anatomic pathology. This degree enables students to learn two distinct disciplines and become a highly skilled, cross trained individual with enhanced employment opportunities.
