Dr. Williams earned her bachelor's degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN (2000). She then went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (2004), where she also completed her general surgery residency (2011) and fellowship in pediatric surgery (2013). Following her fellowship training, she accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at UTHSC (2013).

Dr. Williams holds a Master of Science in Epidemiology through the UTHSC Department of Preventative Medicine (2016) with a focus on Clinical Research. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. She is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Williams' clinical interests include pediatric trauma, thyroid disease and vascular anomalies. She is the Trauma Medical Director for Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and active in improving trauma care at both a statewide and national level.

Dr. Williams’ conducts clinical research focused on pediatric trauma/burns, vascular anomalies, thyroid disease, antibiotic stewardship, and development of evidence-based guidelines for pediatric surgical care. She has published over 40 peer-review articles and mentors medical students and residents in clinical projects focused on improving pediatric surgical care.
