Rima Zahr

Rima Zahr is a pediatric nephrologist who specializes in caring for children and adolescents with sickle cell renal disease. She completed her pediatric nephrology training at Emory School of Medicine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2016. During her training she focused on understanding the pathophysiology of sickle cell renal disease, specifically looking at mice with this disease. She moved to the University of Tennessee in 2016. She is currently seeing children and adolescents with sickle cell renal disease at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital as well as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Zahr continues to work on understanding sickle cell renal disease and is currently focusing on understanding the genetic causes of renal disease and the impacts of disease modifying therapies on inhibiting progression of this disease.
