Curriculum vitae

Jennifer Russell joined the UTHSC College of Nursing in June 2015 as an Instructor in the BSN program. She has 22 years of experience as a nurse, including experience in pediatrics, critical care, public health, education, and nursing leadership. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Union University and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.

Her teaching responsibilities at UTHSC include didactic, simulation and clinical for Pediatric and Adolescent Nursing Concepts, Population Health Nursing Concepts, and clinical for Concepts I: Foundations of Professional Nursing Care.

She is certified as a Pediatric Critical Care Nurse (CCRN-K), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC, RLC), National Healthcare Disaster Professional (NHDP-BC), and Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP). She is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Tennessee Nurses Association, United States Lactation Consultant Association, Tennessee Breastfeeding Coalition, Shelby County Breastfeeding Coalition (a founding member and current board member) and Past-President of the Memphis Area Lactation Consultant Association.

She is an active volunteer with the American Red Cross (Disaster Health Services), Shelby County Health Department Medical Reserve Corps, Highpoint Church Students, and Boy Scouts of America.Her scholarship and service interests include breastfeeding support, reducing infant mortality, public health emergency preparedness and simulation.
