Description: The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor with strong quantitative training and an active research program in cancer epidemiology. We encourage applications across the breath of cancer research, including genetic, molecular, and behavioral epidemiology, and intervention development and dissemination and implementation science. We also encourage candidates with research addressing questions in underserved populations, low-income populations, or health disparities. The position requires a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a similar discipline, demonstrated evidence of research ability and a research program, a successful teaching experience, and a track record of independent peer-reviewed publications. The position is state-supported, however the accepted applicant is expected to develop significant salary support through funded research programs.

The Department of Preventive Medicine includes members with expertise in health psychology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, immunology, nutrition, addiction, cancer screening, health economics, and aging research. The successful candidate is expected also to work closely with faculty across UTHSC and a formal network of hospitals including the West Cancer Center, the largest cancer care provider in the region with over 36,000 patients treated annually. UTHSC also maintains a research Enterprise Data Warehouse as a comprehensive and integrated repository of clinical and administrative data across this hospital network to facility cohort discovery, observational studies, and quality and operations improvement.
