Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine seeks a diverse pool of nominees and applicants for the dual position of Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Chair of Department of Medical Education. Credentials for appointment will be at the Associate Professor or Professor rank. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Tenure is subject to negotiation.

The ideal individual for this combined position would be experienced in medical education from the standpoint of educational methodologies, curriculum management and reform, and all aspects of the medical school educational mission. We seek a highly motivated person with a demonstrated level of accomplishment in medical education who desires to move our program to the next level on behalf of students and faculty. As addressing health disparities is a major theme of the College of Medicine, novel community programs involving inter-disciplinary approaches are expected to form an increasingly important part of the overall educational experience. The Department of Medical Education aggregates core faculty for the educational mission in basic science and clinical years, as well as their funding, in one administrative unit. The Chair will administer the department for the benefit of the educational enterprise, and will have the expected oversight that a departmental chair has over faculty. A competitive package for both personal compensation and staffing the educational mission will be provided. Applicants should hold the M.D., Ph.D., or Ed.D. degree or equivalent.
