Faculty Profile


Mrs. Burnett began her career 20 years ago as a cytotechnologist. After receiving a B.S. in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin and graduating from UTHSC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cytotechnology, she earned a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University. She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Memphis and also holds a post graduate certificate in instructional design and technology. Before entering academia, Keisha was employed as a cytotechnologist at Duckworth Pathology and Quest Diagnostics. She is currently a PRN cytotechnologist at American Esoteric Laboratory and Poplar Healthcare. Mrs. Burnett has been a faculty member in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences since 2005. She served as President of the American Society for Cytotechnology (ASCT) in 2014-15 and serves on a number of committees in the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC). Mrs. Burnett currently serves as the MCP Program Director and Education Coordinator for the cytotechnology curriculum within the MCP program.
