The OMDS faculty have been specifically trained to serve the oral and maxillofacial diagnostic, consultative, and patient care needs of both general practitioners and specialists. With nearly a half century of combined experience, they are committed to an accurate, timely diagnosis and quality patient care. The OMDS faculty look forward to the opportunity to serve their colleagues and their patients and are always available to answer questions and receive comments.

Dr. Anderson graduated from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry in 1989. After eleven years in private dental practice, he entered his residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology. Dr. Anderson completed this training and received an M.S. in oral biology in June 2003. He immediately returned to the University of Tennessee, where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Biologic and Diagnostic Sciences. Dr. Anderson is co-author of a textbook chapter on oral diseases and has published papers in his area of interest, virally-induced neoplasia. He is also interested in the various oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Shahrabi-Farahani graduated from the Dental School of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in 1996, where she obtained her DDS degree. After graduation, she entered a 3-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and obtained a MS degree at the same dental school. Beginning in 1999, she taught Oral Histology/Embryology and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, as well as practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the Dental School of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, Iran. For further training and experience, she entered the Advanced-graduate Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts in 2009 and received a DMSc degree in Oral Biology in 2013. She immediately joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry as an assistant professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Oral Medicine. Dr. Shahrabi-Farahani has published numerous papers relating to Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Her specific fields of interest are vascular biology, oral cancer and angiogenesis, histopathologic aspects of cosmetic dermal fillers, salivary glands, and soft tissue/bone pathology.
