COVID-19 Campus Update

Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Welcome back to campus! As we begin this new semester, the UT Health Science Center continues to closely follow the changing CDC guidelines as we monitor the record surge that the Omicron variant is having on the number of cases around our campuses. Please review the information below regarding UTHSC's COVID-19 guidelines.

UTHSC is returning to requiring masks indoors in all campus buildings except when eating or drinking in approved areas. We will also return to required social distancing inside campus buildings by using every other seat seating in conference rooms and lecture halls. This policy complies with all current federal and state law. Court decisions are pending and we will adjust our policy to comply with all federal and state law.

Faculty, staff, and students will follow the rules and guidelines of our partner hospitals and practice plan clinics when in their facilities.

On-campus COVID-19 testing is available:

  • For faculty, staff, and students who are asymptomatic with no known exposures, COVID-19 testing is available at University Health Services, located on the 9th floor of the 910 Madison Building on the Memphis campus. Testing is available Mondays and Fridays, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Appointments are recommended and can be scheduled by visiting your patient portal or by calling 901.448.5630.

  • A public testing site, operated by University Clinical Health, will begin testing on Wednesday, January 5, at the Van Vleet Building (corner of Dunlap and Madison) on the Memphis campus. Drive-thru testing will be available Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Please bring your identification, and insurance card, if available.

As new strains of COVID-19 continue to appear, I strongly urge all UTHSC employees and students who have not been vaccinated to once again consider getting vaccinated. You can find COVID-19 vaccines in your area at https://www.vaccines.gov/search/.

I appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate this changing environment. We will continue to keep you updated as new developments arise.
