The Interdisciplinary Community Education (ICE) Workshop Series present topics addressing medical and behavioral issues for children with special health care needs and adults with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities across the life span. Sessions focus on current and future directions in family-centered care, intervention approaches for diverse populations, and collaboration at the local, state, and national levels.

Stewards of Children takes a comprehensive approach to educating adults and youth-serving organizations to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Education Across the Life Span: Secondary, Transition and Post-Secondary Education Initiatives

This webinar will highlight three innovative programs for advocacy and access to education for people with disabilities. Debra Vitale, LCSW will present her work with the innovative Special Education Parent Teacher Association chartered last year in Shelby County and the first in the state of Tennessee. Melvin L. Jackson and Crystal Godwin from University of Tennessee Center for Literacy, Education and Employment will present the transition and self-determination project and Maurice Williams, MA from the University of Memphis will discuss the highlights from the first semester of Tiger LIFE, a post-secondary program for people with intellectual disabilities.

Incorporating Racial-Cultural Competence into Health Care Settings

This webinar will feature Dr. Sha'Kema Blackmon from the University of Memphis, College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. Dr. Blackmon received her Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 2010. Dr. Blackmon's research interests focus on social justice and multicultural issues consisting of two tracks: the psychology of African Americans and the multicultural competence of health care professionals who serve people of color.
