Micro Computed Tomography (Micro CT)

The Orthopedic Surgery department in the College of Medicine has an Imtek MicroCAT II scanner located in the Coleman animal facility. This is an X-ray x-ray computed tomography system capable of performing non-invasive imaging studies of tissue specimens or rats or mice in vivo.

This imaging modality is particularly suited for studies involving:

* Skeletal biology and disease
* Joint degeneration
* Oncology
* Cardiovascular and respiratory disease
* Functional imaging with integrated microCT/SPECT

For in vivo imaging, the LACU veterinary technicians can perform anesthetic induction, maintenance and monitoring.
