Biological Materials Inventory Policy Statement
In order for UTHSC to accurately assess the variety and quantity of biological materials on the campus and to establish that the University is in compliance with the OSHA General Duty Clause to provide a place of employment free from recognized hazards, UTHSC is establishing an inventory of biological materials. This inventory is also necessary to ascertain that researchers are in possession of appropriate documentation for non-select agent materials that require regulatory agency permits.
Therefore, all laboratories possessing bacteria, viruses, eukaryotic materials (e.g. fungi, protozoa, cell lines, animal blood / tissues, human blood / tissues and other potential infectious materials) must submit a completed inventory form to the Biosafety Office.
