Information About Electronic Grant Submission

electronic transferPLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION AS SOON AS YOU KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE SUBMITTING A GRANT APPLICATION THAT REQUIRES ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION SO THAT WE CAN BE WORKING WITH YOU TO BE SURE WE DO NOT MISS THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE.

Research Administration will provide up-to-date information and training sessions periodically (or upon request) and will post announcements via the Research web site as well as through campus e-mail.

Forms

Please note that electronic submission through grants.gov does not require one standard forms package. Each grant application package will be linked to a specific grant announcement, and PIs will download the package to their computers using software available at the grants.gov web site.

Forms Revised as of 5/17/2013

Please note, Safari users should click on the “SAVE” button at the top of page 1 of the application package to save to your desktop. Choosing “file” and “save as” on the Safari tool bar will not work.

Internal Routing

Internal routing is required prior to submission of ALL grant applications, including those with electronic submission systems that allow the PI to enter data directly into the agency web site. In most instances, an institutional official must sign off on the application, either electronically or in paper form, before it is accepted by the agency.

The Tennessee Electronic Research Administration Proposal and Award Management System (TERA/PAMS), commonly referred to as PAMS, is used to electronically route all documents that require review and/or signature by Research Administration. The link to the PAMS system is www.uthsc.edu/pams, and you log in using your net ID and password; you will find training and additional information on our web site at http://www.uthsc.edu/research/tera.

Deadlines

The UTHSC Faculty Senate has approved a 5-working-day internal deadline for all grant applications, including those that must be submitted electronically. The FINAL version of the application is due on that date. Please also note that in cases in which an agency has a deadline past 5 p.m. Central time, UTHSC deadline is 5 p.m. Central. Grant applications that arrive past the 5-working-day advance deadline will go to the bottom of the queue and are not guaranteed to meet the agency submission deadline.

Registration

Individual investigators DO NOT need to register with grants.gov. The institution is already registered, and the "AOR" is Deborah L. Smith. The DUNS# is 94-1884009.

PIs who plan to submit proposals to the NIH WILL need to be registered in NIH Commons to apply for NIH grants. PIs who have been funded, who have applied for NIH grants, or who are NIH reviewers may already be registered. If you do not have a Commons ID or if you have trouble logging into Commons, please contact Virgina (Ginny) Geer (vgeer@uthsc.edu or 448-1668).
