"CORNET Awards at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Grants $300,000 to New Collaborative Research Projects"

Six research teams were recently announced as the 2017 awardees for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Collaborative Research Network (CORNET) Awards. Based on the ideals of cross-disciplinary team science, the CORNET Awards provide winning groups with seed money to stimulate innovative, interdisciplinary, team-based research, which will give rise to future extramural funding.

"The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Office of Research Announces System-Wide Collaborative Award Winners"

Three research projects have been selected as the winners of the 2017 University of Tennessee Collaborative Research Network (UT CORNET) Awards in Cancer Research. The awards are designed to promote new lines of team-based research and serve as a catalyist of new collaborative partnerships for UT cancer investigators across Tennessee.

UTHSC has received a nearly $500,000 i6 Challenge Award from the United States Economic Development Administration (EDA) to establish a Proof-of-Concept Center at UTHSC in partnership with Memphis Bioworks Foundation.

Goodman and Hamre 

Kristin Hamre, PhD, associate professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), and Cynthia Kane, PhD, professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have been named the 2016 winners of the UTHSC/UAMS USA Collaborative Research Network (CORNET) Award.

 strategic plan 2016

The Operational Strategic Plan for Research (OSPR) for UTHSC was approved Monday, August 22, 2016 by Chancellor Steve Schwab. The Plan lays out a pragmatic and comprehensive strategy that will systematically strengthen and grow research at UTHSC over the next five years.

Stephania Cormier, PhD, in the Department of Pediatrics at UTHSC, has been named as the inaugural associate vice chancellor for research and global partnerships effective July 1, 2016.
