MathWorks MATLAB System-wide License

UTHSC participates in a system-wide license for MATLAB. This software is available free for all University of Tennessee faculty, staff, and students.

Follow these steps to take advantage of the system-wide license:

  • Create a MathWorks account at http://www.mathworks.com/accesslogin/createProfile.do.
    • Use your UT e-mail address.
    • For "How Will You Use the MathWorks Software" choose Academic use (including campus/site license use).
  • Associate your account with the system-wide license using the Activation Key that is included in the UT installation instructions.
    • Download instructions and activation keys
      • Instructions and activation keys can be downloaded at https://web.dii.utk.edu/softwaredistribution/login.aspx.
      • Enter your NetID and password; choose home or office use, whichever is applicable; and click Log In.
      • Choose MATLAB Installation and click Download Selected Item.
      • Choose "Click here to begin download"
      • Instructions and the activation key are included in the PDF that is provided.
    • Associate your account with the system-wide license
      • When logged in to your MathWorks account, click My Account to get to the license center window. Then click Manage My Licenses.
      • Click Associate Me with a License.
      • In the Associate dialog box, enter the activation key.
      • Click Continue.
  • Download MATLAB products from The MathWorks website and install MATLAB software. This website is restricted to UT faculty, staff, and students.
    • Log into your MathWorks account.
    • Click Download Product Updates from the My Licenses page.
    • Follow the UT Installation instructions to complete the downloads.
  • Activate the MATLAB software.
    • In the Activation Welcome dialog box, click Next.
    • In the Activation Key window, specify the Activation Key in the Activation Key dialog box and click Next.
    • In the Confirmation dialog box, confirm your activation information and click Activate.
    • In the Activation Complete dialog box, complete the activation process by clicking Finish.
