Nickey Alana, M.D.

Dr. Alana was born in Manila, Philippines before moving to East TN as a toddler. As the oldest of three, he graduated from UTK with a biochemistry degree. He received his M.D. from UTHSC is now excited to start his residency in Le Bonheur! During his free time, he enjoys lap swimming and planning his next adventure abroad. One of his life goals is to take a jumping picture in every place possible!

Sarada Alla, M.D.

Dr. Alla grew up in Alexandria, LA with one younger sister. She went to college outside of Chicago at Northwestern University. She went to medical school much closer to home at LSU-Shreveport. With her free time, Sarada loves tennis, baking, mountain biking (not very good at it), and being outside with her puppy Rylie.

Sweeti Bhakta, M.D.

Dr. Bhakta is a born and raised Tennessean. She grew up in small town Winchester, TN. She went to Middle TN State University where she studied biology, chemistry and business administration. She then moved to Memphis, TN where she completed medical school and met her prince charming. They recently got married and are thrilled to continue to explore Memphis together. She loves traveling, wine, and dancing. In her free time, she enjoys working out, cooking and beating her husband in Monopoly.

Michelle Bowden, M.D.

Dr. Bowden grew up in Yazoo City, MS. Eager to get away to the “big city,” she attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL. After graduating, she became a science teacher in Nashville and worked with inner-city teens. Passionate about serving others, she decided to pursue medicine at University of Tennessee. Michelle is married to Barrett, who pastors a church in downtown Memphis. Together, they enjoy life and ministry in the local community, overseas missions, cooking and discovering great restaurants.

Amie Cahill, M.D.

Dr. Cahill was born in Atlanta but raised in Birmingham, Alabama by Kate and Toby Cahill as the youngest of three. She completed her undergraduate education and played basketball at Rhodes College. Amie worked for two years, and then started medical school at University of Tennessee in 2009. Amie and her dog Shelby live in midtown with her boyfriend of 8 years, Aizaz Tareen.

Ana Carasusan, M.D.

Dr. Carasusan was born and raised in Caracas-Venezuela and graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela with her medical degree. After graduating, she did fifteen months of community service. She then got a job offer here in Memphis. She and her husband took the opportunity and moved to the United States, where she worked at a Family Medicine clinic, while preparing herself to take steps to start a Pediatrics residency program. Ana enjoys spending time with her husband and her dog Chepa, as well as traveling and working out.

 

Jennifer Crawford, M.D.

Dr. Crawford was born and raised in Memphis, TN and went to UT-Knoxville for undergrad. Go Vols! She graduated with a BS in Biochemistry and came back home for medical school at UT College of Medicine. Jennifer loves spending time with family, friend, and her sweet puppy “Macie.” She enjoys eating at new restaurants, traveling, sports, live music and reality TV (guilty pleasure). Jennifer is very excited to stay in her hometown and train at Le Bonheur, and can’t wait for this chapter of her life to begin!

Nicole De Jesus-Brugman, M.D.

Dr. De Jesus-Brugman grew up in Puerto Rico and moved to Florida just in time to begin high school. She received her BS in Biology from Florida State University in Tallahassee and stayed in town to attend FSU’s College of Medicine. She has spent the last two years in Sarasota, FL where FSU has a regional campus. She enjoys staying active. Running and swimming are among her favorite. She also enjoys reading, especially the classics. Nicole loves trying new recipes and having friends over to try them.

Cailin Frank, D.O.

Dr. Frank was born and raised in Pennsylvania, At the University of Pittsburg, she studied Neuroscience and Anthropology while also keeping busy doing research, teaching and always finding an open mic night. She traveled south to Lewisburg, West Virginia to medical school with her dog, Franklin. They are excited to travel even further south and settle in Memphis! Cailin loves to hike, bike, eat good food, and have as much fun as possible. Cailin loves to read, cook, and explore museums and outdoors. Music is her escape.

Megan Galaske, M.D.

Dr. Galaske is a native Tennessean, and has enjoyed moving her way across the state from the Bluegrass picking Appalachian mountains to “Music City” and finally in the “Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll.” (Can you tell she loves music?) Born in Johnson City, Megan then went to MTSU, where she met her husband, Nathan. They married in June before medical school. She is excited to stay in the UT family! Nathan is an audio engineer for local events and tours, and they love making music together in their home studio! They also love cooking, brewing, DIY projects, and playing with their dogs, Tippy and Crach.

Jessica Gartrell, M.D.

Dr. Gartrell grew up in a small town north of Kansas City, MO and is the youngest of four children. She attended undergrad at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she met her husband, Greg. They just welcomed their baby boy Michael to the family, so most of their time is spent with him. When given the chance, Jessica loves to catch any sporting event. She is excited to venture out of the Midwest and start exploring everything Memphis has to offer!

Patrick Gavigan, M.D.

Dr. Gavigan was born in Princeton, NJ and grew up in Scranton, PA. He attended Bucknell University, a small school in Central Pennsylvania, for college, and then went to University of Pittsburg for medical school. Pat enjoys watching and playing sports, especially basketball and golf. After spending 26 years living up North, he is looking forward to starting his residency in Memphis!

Katie Keegan, M.D.

Dr. Keegan was born in Florida, but spent her formative years on Signal Mountain, TN. Kate moved to South Carolina to attend Furman University majoring in Biology. She then headed to Memphis to work at the Church Health Center. Unable to venture far from Central BBQ nachos, Kate attended med school at UTHSC. She is excited to be stay in Memphis for residency! Kate loves visiting Chattanooga where she hangs with her family listening to bluegrass at the Mountain Opry. She is always out to hike, paddle, garden and play with her poodle, Mae. She also enjoys watching HGTV, drinking lots of coffee, and learning the banjo.

Moriah Kramer, M.D.

Although Dr. Kramer was born in South Dakota, she has always considered the town she grew up in, Springdale, AR, her first home. She went to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville majoring in Biology. Go Razorbacks! There she met her boyfriend, Thomas. The couple are proud parents of the best cats in the entire world, Nico and Frankie. Moriah enjoys hiking, painting, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. She is so excited about moving to Memphis to start this new chapter of her life!

Rayanne Lee, M.D.

Dr. Lee was born and raised in the “big easy”, New Orleans, LA. She attended LSUHSC New Orleans School of Public Health where she received her M.P.H. IN Behavioral & Community Health Sciences. Although Rayanne lovers her hometown and its flavor, she is excited to begin a new chapter in Memphis! Rayanne enjoys reading James Patterson novels, spending time with her nieces and nephews, dancing, working out, watching reality TV, and cooking pralines!

Jennifer Lum, M.D.

Dr. Lum was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA where her family still resides. She attended LSU in Baton Rouge, where she majored in Biology and minored in English and Psychology. She moved to Shreveport, LA to attend medical school at LSU Health Science Center. In her free time, Jennifer loves reading, running, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors with her dog, CiCi. She looks forward to exploring her new city of Memphis and starting her career in pediatrics at Le Bonheur!

Cynthia Miranda, M.D.

Dr. Miranda was born in California and raised in South Texas. She received her bachelors from the University of Texas Pan American majoring in Chemistry and Biology. After graduating, Cynthia moved to Galveston to attend medical school. In medical school, Cynthia met her fiancé Arturo, an orthopedic surgery resident here in Memphis. Cynthia is looking forward to starting residency and her wedding in September. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, knitting, time with family and attending the opera and symphony.

Jesus Moreno, M.D.

Dr. Moreno was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and attended med school at Universidad Centro in Barquisimeto. Jesus likes to play soccer on the weekends, especially when his favorite team Barcelona plays! He loves to stay home and relax with his wife Maria and their loved son Santiago.

Christian Nunez, M.D.

Born in New York and raised near St. Louis, Dr. Nunez is a Midwesterner at heart. After undergrad at Washington University in St. Louis, Christian finished a premed post-bac program at Rockhurst University in Kansas City and attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. Christian is a proud older brother to his sister Bella (with a 15 1/2 year age difference!) who, coincidentally wants to be a pediatrician. Christian loves making music through piano, guitar, or singing a cappella. He also enjoys spending time with friends, ping pong, and even video games. (I never grew up...good thing I decided to go into pediatrics!)

Cat Park, M.D.

Dr. Park is from Augusta, GA. She went to Georgia Tech in Hotlanta (Fight! Win! Drink! Get Naked!), and then back to Augusta for med school. Cat loves reality TV shows, doing crossfit, and traveling. Her life goals are to both be on Survivor or Amazing Race, and try all the Top Chef restaurants in the U.S. She can’t wait to come to Memphis and make new friends, find a new crossfit gym, find a church, and try all of Memphis’ great food! If you are looking for someone to play board game, (Settlers) card games or Scramble with Friends with then she’s your girl!

Dhara Patel, M.D.

Dr. Patel was born in India and at the age of 8 moved to South Carolina. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and then Medical school at SIU in Springfield, IL. After being in the Midwest the last 10 years of her life, she is looking forward to the amazing thing Memphis has to offer. In her spare time, Dhara loves visiting her three wonderful nephews and niece, soon to be 4! Dhara’s interests include trying out new restaurants, cooking, reading, zumba, and sports. Go Cards and Lakers!

Tsega Temtem, M.D.

Dr. Temtem grew up in sub-Saharan Africa and moved to Memphis near the end of high school. She did not stray too far from Memphis for college and obtained her B.S. in Molecular Biology from Union University in Jackson, TN. She attended medical school in Memphis and is excited about staying for residency. Tsega hopes to be involved in international medical work in the future. She enjoys running, photography, cupcakes, and quality coffee.
