Martha Allen, M.D.
University of Kansas School of Medicine
Dr. Allen considers herself a Missourian at heart. She attended Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri and then headed across state lines for medical school at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. Martha loves animals, sewing, baking, autosports, but most of all - her husband and baby son! They are so excited to start their new lives in Memphis!
Robbie Contino, M.D.
Emory University School of Medicine
Dr. Contino was born in Durham, North Carolina but raised in Dover, Delaware. He went to the University of Richmond where he earned a BS in Biology before moving further South to Atlanta to attend medical school at Emory University. Due to his growing interest in underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad, Robbie took time off from medical school to earn a Masters in Public Health and spend time doing community health research in Peru, Kenya, and inner city Atlanta. While in Atlanta, Robbie met a girl with two dogs and a talent for art who shared his passion for serving God and people. They married and are excited to start this next chapter of their lives in Memphis with their new son. In his spare time Robbie enjoys being with family, spending time outdoors, reading, and sipping a good cup of dark coffee.
Vijay Gorantla, M.D.
J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere College of Medicine
Dr. Gorantla was born and raised in India where he received his medical degree at J.J.M. Medical College, India. After graduation, Vijay worked as a physician in India, Scotland and Jamaica before moving to Memphis to be with family and pursue postgraduate residency training. He worked as a Post Doctoral Research trainee at UTHSC for the last 2'/2 years. Upon completion of residency training, Vijay hopes to do a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship. He is married to Shilpa and they have a three-year-old son, Shriyansh. Vijay's hobbies include collecting different kinds of pens, traveling, cooking, reading, listening to music, playing and watching cricket. In his free time, he loves to spend time with family and watch James Bond movies.
Joseph Green, D.O.
Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
Dr. Green's roots are in the small town of Bee Branch, Arkansas. He has two older brothers, supportive parents and a cute and smart 6 year-old niece. He attended Ouachita Baptist University where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Spanish. He then went to medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Joseph was blessed with the opportunity to travel to China, Peru, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic for mission trips. He is a devoted Razorbacks fan and may have gotten this obsession from his 87 year-old grandmother who has never missed a home game. Joseph enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, and spending time with his girlfriend. He is excited about starting a new chapter of his life in Memphis!
Paul Guidry, M.D.
Louisiana State University School of Medicine Shreveport
Dr. Guidry is one of triplets and raised in historic Natchitoches, LA. He attended Louisiana State University, home of the beloved Bayou Bengals, where he majored in Biological Sciences with minors in Business and Chemistry. It was also at LSU that he met his wonderful wife, Catherine. After college, Paul returned closer to home to attend LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport. Paul and Catherine married June 2, 2012 - just in time for a honeymoon before starting internship at UT. In his spare time Paul enjoys running with his dog, cooking, hunting, fishing and being with friends and family. Paul and Catherine look forward to four years of music, fun and food while working with a uniquely diverse patient population in Memphis!
Erik Hemingway, M.D.
Michigan State University College of Human Medicine
Dr. Hemingway was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan and did not stray far from home attending Michigan State University for his undergraduate B.S. in Biology and continuing on at MSU for medical school. In Michigan, he volunteered at homeless shelters, soup kitchens, free-clinics, and local public schools. Erik is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He was privileged to assist in public health and clinical work in Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru. His faith in Jesus Christ motivates him to provide compassionate care for the medically underserved in the US and abroad. He and his lovely wife, Laura, look forward to move down South and exploring the city of Memphis.
Sean Lindsey, M.D.
University of Kentucky College of Medicine
Dr. Lindsey was born and raised in Northern Kentucky in the town of Edgewood. When he was four years old he told his parents he wanted to become a hospital. Now many years later, and a realization that one cannot become a building; he picked the next best thing, a physician. Sean graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and worked as an engineer in the Bay Area of California four years. Living in Oakland, California, Sean grew to love living, working, and doing ministry in the inner city and set his sights on becoming a physician. He has a passion for mission work and volunteered in Ukraine, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and in his community. In his spare time, Sean enjoys traveling, biking, skiing, reading, and watching movies. He looks forward to living in Memphis and serving the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the diverse community.
Kimberly Marsh, M.D.
St. George's University
Dr. Marsh was born and raised in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York where she spent 18 years living in a state park. She attended The College of William and Mary in Virginia, where she continued her synchronized swimming career and earned a BS in neuroscience. After college, Kimberly joined Teach for America and spent two years teaching 7th grade science in Charlotte, North Carolina. During this time she developed a commitment to working with the underserved population. She attended St. George's University in Grenada, where she earned her Masters in Public Health and medical degree while enjoying the beautiful beaches and perfect weather. Kimberly is excited to begin a new adventure in Memphis, and hopes to one day incorporate her love for medicine and teaching into a career providing transitional care to the underserved population. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, traveling, knitting, and good wine.
Alex Seleverstov, M.D.
Donetsk State Medical University, Ukraine
Dr. Seleverstov was born in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine- a beautiful town on the Dnepr River. He attended medical school and finished postgraduate training in surgery in Donetsk, where he met his wife, Olga. Following residency he went to Leipzig University, Germany to begin stem cell and artificial liver research. While there, Alex started his own research projects in nanotechnology and cancer research, which lead him to the University of Wyoming and later to the University of Virginia. In Charlottesville, he ran translational research dedicated to glioblastoma multiforme therapy using magnetic nanoparticles to deliver microRNA and biologic anticancer agents. Having spent several years in research, Alex decided to return to clinical work and started a Pediatric Surgical Oncology Fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He became interested in medical oncology and hematology and decided to make a career change. Watching St. Jude pediatric cancer survivors, Alex realized the importance of continuity of care and the significance of Med/Ped training for life-long support. In his free time Alex enjoys time with family, fishing and hiking; he turns to the gym and history study when the weather is bad or time is short.
Meaghan Stumph, M.D.
State University of New York Upstate Medical University
Dr. Stumpf learned to walk and talk in the South (Virginia), before her parents lost their minds and moved her to Upstate New York at the age of two. She is whole-heartedly relieved to return to her Southern roots (no offense Mom and Dad). Meg received her BS at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, located in the beautiful Finger Lakes of New York. There she gained an appreciation of viticulture, majored in Biology, and received a minor in Dance. She attended medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University, spending free time baking fruit pies and volunteering at free clinics in the city of Syracuse. While in medical school, Meg married her high school sweetheart, John. In their spare time, the two are up for almost anything — but most evenings end up cooking together and watching premium cable. They look forward to calling Tennessee their new home!
Shelly Swindler, M.D.
Louisiana State University School of Medicine Shreveport
Dr. Swindler grew up in a very small community in central Louisiana called Evergreen (population -.300). She later attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology. After college, it was on to LSUHSCShreveport for medical school where she met her boyfriend Earl, a UT surgery resident. She is very interested in the field of infectious diseases and enjoys reading anything and everything ID related. In her spare time, she likes to run, bake, and watch movies with Earl. Shelly is very excited to move to Memphis to begin her residency training. She looks forward to making new friends and experiencing all that Memphis has to offer - including the amazing barbecue!
Michael Vaughan, M.D.
Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine
Dr. Vaughan (call him Michael!) grew up in Gainesville, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. There he met his best friend and wife, Angelyn, through the Baptist Student Union, where they discovered a common desire to become missionaries for the Gospel. They got engaged, graduated, and moved to Augusta, where she trained to become a dietitian, while he attended the Medical College of Georgia. Now married, they are excited to make the Memphis area their new home before moving on to parts unknown. A home body at heart, Michael devours books and plays guitar, though he is looking forward to trying new things and is telling everyone back home that he is going to earn a "black belt in Krav Maga" before he graduates!
