Current Fellows

Kristen Capito, DO
Bio
I hail from the Virginias (go Hoos) and am known to make detours. I worked in public
health in the Bay Area before returning to my roots in West Virginia (WVSOM) for medical
school. Then, I migrated South for my medical training in pediatrics with a global
health concentration at MUSC in Charleston, SC. Next, I worked in a community peds
ED/observation unit in Annapolis, MD (where I picked up the title Dr. Cookie Dough)
before making my way to Memphis for fellowship. My research/QI is on pediatric readiness
and simulation education. The clinical training in trauma at Le Bonheur is unreal
and my class has a knack for popping out babies (baby #5 coming Jan 2024). Spending
time outside with my husband, baby Cooper and Quinn kitty is my favorite.
Erika Cohen, MD
Bio
Hi, I am Erika. I was born and raised in sunny South Florida and took my talents
to UCF for medical school. From there I ventured over to St. Petersburg to do my
residency at Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital. I was drawn to the Le Bonheur
PEM program because of the incredible people, but the trauma, volume, and acuity aren't
bad either. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, working out, my husband's cooking,
and most recently my beautiful baby boy.
Rana Harhay, DO
Bio
I'm Rana from Buffalo, NY – Go Bills! Right after my interview, I knew Le Bonheur
was the place for me. The training, thanks to the hospital's vast service area and
trauma training, is unparalleled. I'd choose Le Bonheur for my PEM training every
day. In my free time, I enjoy running, spending time with my husband, our sassy boxer
Winston, and my two beautiful little girls.

Bertina Loui, DO
Bio
I am known as "Bert" to everyone, yes, like "Bert & Ernie". I was born and raised
in Southern California (a proud UCLA Bruin!). I crossed the country to do residency
at Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY, and found myself lured to Le Bonheur
for PEM Fellowship by the amazing people here. When not in the ED, you'll find me
searching for croissants or biscuits/gravy, hanging out with friends doing anything
and everything, and frequently you may have to travel to find me because I go somewhere
almost once a month!
Philip Jay Mendez Frayre, MD
Bio
I am from Seattle, Washington and I went to Medical School at the University of Arkansas.
I did my pediatric residency in Orlando, Florida. I love going to Disney and my favorite
park is Epcot! If I'm not in the ED, you'll find me on a roller coaster or hanging
out my dog, Toby.
Scott Wisniewski, MD
Bio
Originally from Murfreesboro, TN, I've now called Memphis home since 2014! I have
completed all of my medical training here at UTHSC/Le Bonheur from medical school
to now PEM fellowship, including a year as one of the pediatric chief residents. Outside
of the hospital, I enjoy exploring the Memphis food and brewery scene with friends
and my dog, Steve. Other than that, I'm probably working on a home renovation project
of some sort or tinkering in the garage. I love to host and entertain small groups,
whether that be homemade pizza and pasta nights with the other PEM fellows or a brunch
with some of my home roasted coffee.

Chelsea Hawthorne, DO
Bio
Chelsea was born in the town of Klamath Falls, Oregon. She went on to attend college
at Oregon State University and medical school at WesternU COMP-NW. Growing up in Oregon
instilled in her a deep love for the outdoors- from swimming in lakes to snowboarding,
to ATV riding on the dunes. Chelsea and her husband decided it was time for a bit
more sunshine in their lives, so they set out for Orlando, Florida for her Pediatric
Residency at AdventHealth. She found a whole new set of hobbies from kayaking to going
to the beach, to frequenting the Universal Orlando and Disney theme parks. She then
decided she could find happiness anywhere and set her sights on continuing to explore
the US with her husband, baby boy, and 2 dogs. She is now completing her Pediatric
Emergency Medicine fellowship in Memphis, Tennessee.
Nathan Mulroy, MD
Bio
I am a proud native Memphian, born and raised here. I attended Christian Brothers
High School but then I decided to expand my horizons for undergrad and attended the
University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. I returned for medical school and subsequently
decided to stick around and complete my Pediatrics residency here at UTHSC. Outside
of work I love the outdoors, including kayaking, biking, running, as well as lifting
weights. I also have a six year old pup named Archie, who my life and schedule revolve
around. I am an avid, lifelong Notre Dame football and lacrosse fan but I also brought
a love of Arkansas football back with me after my four years in Fayetteville. I’m
also a huge Grizzlies fan and cannot recommend their games enough. I could not be
more excited to be spending the next three years here training in one of the busiest
emergency departments in the country while serving the community that I am proud to
call my home.
Brittain Robinson, MD
Bio
I am from Georgia. In my free time, I like do pottery, read books, and walk my dog
Cooper. I did residency at UT and am looking forward to continuing my training here.
