Goals and characteristics

The Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic, under the direction of Dr. William M. Mihalko, will expose the Fellow to the proper clinical examination techniques, diagnostic techniques, surgical indications, and surgical techniques associated with adult reconstruction surgery.

The final result will be a subspecialty surgeon who has not only mastered the field of arthroplasty and reconstructive surgery, but also a surgeon who feels comfortable and confident in tackling the most complex cases in the field.

The Fellow will also be granted time and expenses to attend both AAOS and AAHKS annual meetings. The Fellow will be allotted a total of four weeks to conduct patient-oriented and/or basic science research in the InMotion Orthopaedic Research Center. He or she will be expected to submit an abstract to the AAOS and the AAHKS annual meetings and publish at least one paper from their work during the fellowship in one of the following journals: Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Journal of Arthroplasty, or the Journal of Orthopaedic Research.
