Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Doctors in the MFM Division are world-renowned physician-scientists who lecture nationally and internationally on a range of topics. Through research, they have developed procedures that have changed the standard of care in prenatal diagnosis and intervention in the world. Our MFM physicians have pioneered new treatments for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and have developed a non-invasive method to diagnose fetal anemia with ultrasound.
In one year alone, the department published 34 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 17 oral or poster presentations at national and international meetings, created a new enhanced perinatal-neonatal database, and acquired several grants devoted to progressing our knowledge of reproductive systems and helping us improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.
MFM faculty members are active sponsors and mentors in resident and fellow research projects. They provide guidance regarding regulatory submissions, study design, and planning and implementation of research projects. Many of these projects are presented at regional and national meetings and ultimately published.
