Dr. Jami Adrianne Smith is an assistant professor in the UTHSC College of Nursing. She joined the faculty in June 2013. Her teaching responsibilities include providing both clinical supervision and didactic instruction within the BSN and MSN programs. She teaches Acute Care and Adult Health. In addition, she supervises students in clinical supervision in Acute Care, Adult Health, Internship, and Clinical Leadership Practicum.
Dr. Smith received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, in 2002, a Master of Science in Nursing degree focusing on Nursing Education from Regis University, Denver Colorado, in 2006, and a Doctor of Health Education degree from A. T. Still University, Kirksville Missouri, in 2009. Her 10+ years of experience within the nursing profession includes a background in the areas of critical care and dialysis nursing. Her research interests include: renal disease, HIV/AIDS, competency of nurses, and healthcare disparities.
Dr. Smith is a certified nephrology nurse (CNN). In addition, she is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, Association of Black Nursing Faculty, American Nephrology Nurses Association, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
