Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Vicki Little Chandler, a Memphis native, joined the UTHSC College of Nursing as Assistant Professor, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, FNP Concentration, August 21, 2017. Prior to joining the UTHSC faculty, Dr. Chandler was a Clinical Associate Professor with the Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) at the University of Memphis.  While at LCON Dr. Chandler taught Community Nursing in the BSN program, the adult health didactic course and adult, residency, pediatrics, and women’s health clinical courses in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program.

Dr. Chandler began her nursing career working as a RN primarily on neuro-surgery units at Methodist Hospital, University.  She also served there as a staff development educator for 5 years. Before joining academia at LCON in 2007, she was a full-time family nurse practitioner with Bryant Family Practice (later named Humphreys Family Practice) for 13 years.  She stays current and relevant as a FNP by working at a local internal medicine clinic.  Her main areas of interest include promoting wellness to her patients by educating the importance of monitoring cholesterol and insulin levels and staying healthy and fit with diet and exercise.

Dr. Chandler received her BSN from UTHSC in 1994, her MSN-FNP from the University of Mississippi in 1994, and her DNP from the University of Alabama in 2014.

She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, National League of Nursing, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, and the Greater Memphis Area Advanced Practice Nurses.

Dr. Chandler enjoys spending time with her 3 sons, caring for her parents, working out, and is an avid gardener.  A choir member since age 12, Dr. Chandler continues to sing with her church choir.
