Curriculum Vitae

Sheila Melander received her Undergraduate and Masters degree from the University of Evansville, in Evansville Indiana.  She then received her Doctorate of Nursing Science degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham.  She holds an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree which was obtained from Vanderbilt University.  She began at the University of Tennessee at Memphis in July of 2003.  Her focused area is cardiovascular nursing.  Dr. Melander’s teaching responsibilities include working with the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner students and the DSNc/DNP acute care/cardiac focus students.  She is an active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), NONPF, Sigma Theta Tau, and is a Fellow in the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), and also in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She is as well active in the advance practice group of AACN, SCCM and American Academy of Nurse practitioners.
