UT is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program in the College of Nursing is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. The Tennessee Board of Nursing granted the College of Nursing initial approval to reactivate the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program November 30, 2012 with students enrolling Fall 2013 in the BSN program.
